GOSSIP ‘LISTEN UP’ (LOSERS REMIX) on Half Inch Records
From listening to the original and comparing to the remix, there is an obvious darker element introduced. With a nice build up from the outset using synth and airy pads and guitars, the original elements are evident when the vocals kick in, and once they are established they blend in nicely. The dark overtones provided by the synth strings create tension and then once the chorus is met there is a lighter happier feel to the song, without losing that sense of hidden depths. Bouncing bass guitar sounds and a solid beat hold everything together nicely. The breakdown is, as you would expect it, not too long and again building with enough tension to enjoy the comeback. I had not heard much from ‘Losers’ before but was pleasantly surprised, this is a nice tune, which I will no doubt enjoy in my sets in the future.
