i'm having trouble getting it down, it's pretty hit and miss, and certain types are untouchable for me. anyone know of any good resources?

what vst are you using?
theres several good tb303 clones about
portamento comes in real handy for acid lines
the filter sound is the main thing though, lot of resonance is needed to get that "squelch"

another fun thing to do to get some good squelchy acid sounds is run the 303 thru a distortion pedal followed by a wah wah pedal... sickness

I was using that muon junk for a while but I don't think it has quite the character of a 303. I'm using NW bass 2 now.

I do need to hook up my distortion pedal again, i love the way it sounds, I'll have to search up a wah-wah vst and try that out.

i'm getting better at making the sounds, and learning some tweeking tricks, but my patterns don't have the right feel to them IMO, any tips on this?

record yourself for a long period. listen hard to the groove while you're playing. quantize. cut out a few nice loops and add variations.
