[GROOVE DIGGERZ feat MC MANIC- GET FRESH / SAM HELL REMIX [OUT MONDAY 26th NOVEMBER (VINYL) and MONDAY 3rd DECEMBER (DIGITAL)
DJ REACTIONS Drummatic Twins (Fingerlickin) Playin the dub,, full support ,,, thanks Greg (Dreadzone) wicked funky b line party tune like a grimy stantons which is a good thing. sleazy sexy tune that’s in the box (well, case) and in the chart. sweet. Matt Cantor (Freestylers) Good Production, i like this! General Midi The Sam Hell mix is just up my street- great stuff! Barry Ashworth (Dub Pistols) Another strong release from the DIGGERZ im loving it! Rob Reng (Ruff Dog) got this from mr savage a couple of weeks ago - really feeling the dub mix, nice variation throughout the track, pumping basslines and lush chords -best diggerz track so far i reckon, will be getting a caining from me Nick Thayer The dub is wicked - will be rinsing that fo sho! Capoirera Twins Great package, great production and mixes. Sam Hell mix is a dancefloor killah. Sick! Jhz (REC) Like both versions of this.Probably play sams remix. CTRL Z Best thing I've heard from the Groove Diggerz! Played the dub mix in australia, went down pretty well. 8/10 Shut Up & Dance (Origin FM) likes both tracks will play for sure maybe the one with slightly less vocal though Pete Jordan (Spectrum) Nice solid beats in a Groove Diggerz style, combines well with the vocal. Good response on the dancefloor. Def Inc Really like the Sam Hell mix, nice drums. Quite Rogue Element style. I like the original especially the rollin bass sections and nice vocal too. Prefer the remix tho. Good work! Baobinga Thanks for the tracks, production all good but musically didn't really say too much to me... Didn't blow me away. Radio 1 - PRAGUE We love the Groove Diggerz new twelve inch, good groovy breaks stuff with cool rap. I will play the radio edit in daily broadcasting. Sam Hell´s rmx is with more fat beat sounds as usual, I will introduce in in my show Jamie Fluke (Dead Famous Records) This is more like it a quality package all round:) The boys turn in another party banger. An almost dubby feel gives way to electro sounding synths .Good stuff as ever from Rob and co. 8/10 Absolutely fucking love the remix!!.Sam Hell cam do no wrong at moment.Takes the original and gives it his techy groove.Tight programming, solid bass and great breakdown will destroy any dance floor. .This should be massive will be playing out this weekend for sure. 9/10. Like the radio mix too, great track and should do well on the radio.A little too much vocal for my tastes but quality all the same and rounds up a great package. 7/10 Really liked this one, good music well produced and aimed at the dance floor. Eddy Temple Morris (XFM) Nice! There's plenty I like about this track, But at the end of the day it's a pretty specialist breaks tune and not something I can see crossing over to the Remix on Xfm. Biggup the Groove Diggerz though, i do love a lot of their production. JUNG (NSB) Spot on this one, dark chugging basslines and a nice bit of gnar straight after the break down. Sam Hell mix is absolutey storming and tore the place apart when I played it last weekend. 8/10 from me! Jo Stokes and John Grief (Butane/Pick and Mix show NSB) The Groove Diggerz are really startin to make an impact on the scene and with tracks like this we can see why. We must admit to not liking all of their stuff as some are just a little too laid back funky for us -but this is a great little track. Likin the dub mix the most on the release - when the bass drop full on at 1:44 in the track is right on the money. Preferring the dub coz we are not into full vocals overly and i love the way the vocals are used to just punctuate the tune and in the breakdowns - just right.... Good stuff... 8/10 Deckwreckers (NSB Radio) Wicked fresh (!) sounding track thats really doing the vocals justice here. Nice big basslines that scream for the track to be turned right up to the max. Full on high energy track all the way here, this peak time roller is going straight in the cd wallet! 8/10 Nice remix retaining all the great parts of the original but giving it all the right ingredients to give it a real stamp of quality. Played this one on the radio on friday, getting a good reaction at the moment. 7/10 Best two tracks on Breakin Even for a while, nice work! Andi Lane FunkBudha Show NUSKOOLBREAKS Radio I like the groove diggerz stuff alot an once again they dont fail to please...nice happy party tunes which really kicks off the last third of the tune nice stompin remix......sam hell is on a bit of a role atm with his tade mark bangin sound........this mix is gettin the most play from me.......wot can i say quality stuff from the diggerz again.......there is only 1 thing i can say although likin the diggerz stuff its all a bit samey an i would love to see em do sumfink very different cause they're obviously very talented.... Jody Bionic (Mechanoise) 8/10 across the board, wicked party tunes. Bob (Kickflip) Loving this one. Some wicked touches and a bit of an epic feel make the original another stand out track from the Breakin' Even stable. Sam Hell brings some absolutely massive drums to the mix, and works subtle slices of the original around a funky bass laden groove. Both mixes rocking in this one, will play either depending on the moment... nice one! Matt Darey (Passion FM) Loving the breaks in the dub mix and the massive grooves in the Sam Hell mix, quality! Prato - Frosted Breaks Can’t believe I haven’t wrote back about GD’s “Get Fresh”! Massive tune. Definitely going to get play on our NSB show Frosted Breaks. Love everything they’ve done since I first heard of them from Neztic. OLI - Far Too Loud Very solid release with top production. The remix from Sam Hell is the best thing I have heard from him yet and and I rekon his sound is going to get even better. The mixdown on the original is just as impressively tight as all the other Groove Diggaz stuff I have heard Specimen A (Funkatech / IBreaks) This track has a wide range of sounds and samples which creates a big sound , i cant say there are any sounds in there i thought were off. I like the pete tong style harmonised synth that kicks in and booms etc . The mc sounds a bit like tuna fish from J5, obviously more brittish sounding .I was expecting to hear more of the mc at first but then you realise he is featured in later parts of arrangement.Overall a very convinving track which should do well i imagine. As for the remix , wasnt sure what to expect , but when it dropped , i must say my head was knodding and feet tapping, got a rogue vibe to beats and bass which me likey remix does a good job of making it different from original. PRESS REACTIONS DJ Magazine Currently locked up in the studio beavering away on their album, the Diggerz have slipped out the 1st fruits of it in the form of 'Get Fresh', And the dread vocals on this are EQ'd to perfection, fronting a rolling, dynamic funky floor-rocker. These guys have great energy, and Sam Hell seemingly uses melody snippets from Static Revenger's 'Happy People', an insistent electronic bassline and bits of vocals on his remix. This guy is on fire at the moment and this is one of his best yet. Big room galloping combined with trippy and zippy infections LARGE!!! 4.5/5
EQ Magazine Groove Diggerz touch down again after spending months holed up recording their forthcoming long player. Their last 12”, Live For The Weekend, was a proper dancefloor smash and Get Fresh shows the boys are even more locked and loaded. This is the first single to be taken from the album and it’s just bursting with style and energy – it’s party breaks at its very very best, with a superb vocal delivered by MC Manic (Freefall Collective) and a sawing, snorting bassline that’s gonna have the dancefloor breaking sweat. The remix is handled by Sinister Records’ rising star Sam Hell, who crafts a tech breaks monster that’s designed to destroy the floor. There’s also a radio edit that, while shorter, shows off MC Manic’s vocals to a treat. 9/10 M8 Magazine Bouncing from your speakers like huge, rubbery chunks of bass, this new release from the Groovediggerz is bound to get those heads down with its bounding energy and fat bastard chunky funk. There’s even an emotive ‘hands-in-the-air’ epic bit with all like, emotive chords and uplifting musical bits, man! It’s deep, dude. And then it kicks you right up the jacksie again and brings you right back onto the floor with its pounding kick! There’s also a more linear electro-tech remix from Sam Hell. 7/8 One Week To Live Magazine MC Manic gives the orders over bassline elastic retuned from Raw Deal’s ‘Hol’ It Down’. Always bubbling under and intent on meandering through on the sly, the Diggerz invite you to snub ‘Get Fresh’. It doesn’t get all up inside your face, but it means business with its funkiness sneakily treating your ears. Sam Hell’s in charge of the remix, and again, isn’t there to meddle with your mind. Applying a generous dosage of zip, it bounds up and down to give the original some robo springiness in semi-homage to ‘Jacques Your Body’. 5/7 MOFO Magazine Groove Diggerz come in with what I believe is the first full vocal track from them and it's great to see the Diggerz supporting full vocal breakbeat. Word up fellas and respect. Get Fresh is a corker. They have pulled out all the stops on this one. Phat, bumpin‚ kicks, snares and percussion support an awesome vocal performance from MC Manic. Excellent riff action, horns and toms bring a dropout that leads to an incredible crescendo lead by Manic's vocal. Flip for the Sam Hell remix who comes in on an uber-phat-techie one, which is a good thing because I know the tech headz aren‚t gonna like the vocal. And don‚t worry all you none vocal spinning DJs, there is no MC Manic on the remix. In fact, is this a remix? It sounds like an original track, but having said that it is also a killer tune completing an excellent package from the Diggerz. Bijou Breaks Boy you better know your place. I set the tempo and the bass. To the touch and the taste. Too dangerous too dangerous. I have been becoming more and more of a fan of the Groove Diggerz lately. It is a decision that is certainly influenced by tunes like this one. Mc Manic's vocals on this tune are absolutely on fire that is probably why he has been turning up on more and more tracks. He provides the verbal heat on this tune while the Groove Diggerz dish out an up-beat groovy tune that has a number of Rasta & heavy breaks elements. This production yet again proves that these two are consistently putting hot beats out. The Sam Hell Remix takes the housey breaks approach. If I had to compare this to a recognizable style I would have to say that this may sound like something you might hear coming out of The Rogue Element. That is right.....I made the comparison...Now buy it! The synth and the leads in this remix make it very catchy and something that will appeal to the masses. Apply The Breaks It seems that after reworking the Sect Chameleon track that the Diggaz and Manic had some studio time left. This is in much the same vein, although it bubbles more than roars. Hip Hop / Reggae influenced vocals over a catchy wonky bass. Sam Hell cleans up the act for the handbag massive, and changes it into a minimal dancey moment. There is even a vocal edit for the major stations. Good Stuff. 7.5/10
