A new year brings a fresh face to the Sinister roster in the form of Steve
Young, aka Hedflux.

Having recently secured a residency at Psychedelic Breakdown where he regularly
showcases his psy-tinged tech-funk sound, Steve recently went on to earn his
producers stripes by winning a competition to remix. A Place For
You by New York-based electronic act - Misfilter.

With his debut original, Steve provides a prime example of the Hedflux philosophy
in both name and musicality with Music Is My Weapon.

Oozing the hard-nosed, mind-bothering attitude that goes down all too well
at Sinister Towers, this beast will have heads well and truly down with its
twisted, tekked-up bassline and synth-stabs that'll have you reaching
for eye-protection.

Following their chart-topping single Play It Loud / Fundamental
on Funkatech, Breakspoll 2007 winners Far Too Loud dish up the remix with a
further exploration into psy-breaks territory

Sinister have really been exploring the psy-breaks path via Introspective
and Digitalis, and here Hedflux aka Steve Young turns in a tripped-out
tech-funk piece. The snaking acid line is what'll really have dancers
cavorting like possessed dervishes (probably), while on the remix Far Too Loud
pepper their psychedelic nuances over more of a breakbeat bed. Designed for
peak-time play, it's not as ferocious as their Play it Loud
banger but then what is? CL

Hedflux / Music Is My Weapon / Far Too Loud Remix / Sinister

I always love it when a label goes slightly against the grain to what they
generally release and that's exactly what Sinister have done here. Don't
get me wrong they haven't gone bassline tear-out or lost the plot with
some minimal tech-plod, no sir, they basically just got tuffer.

Hedflux's Music Is My Weapon comes in on a phat driving bassline, solid
tech beats and awesome synth sorcery in the top end. The groove is locked-down
and there is no way this tune isn't going to work on the dancefloor. The
breakdown is colossal psy-trance-esque until huge builds and massive drops land
the tune with monolith presence. Those spinning the tuffer end of General Midi
style tech breaks will beg, steal or borrow for this release.

Flip for those wanting some real tuff action. Far Too Loud deliver a slamming
remix laced with phat drums and immense psy-trance acid induced production values.
Great for Spanish dancefloors and those spinning intense 3am sets. The mid-drop-out
and build is completely explosive.

Monstrous respect to the Sinister crew for this release. (jimmy mofo)
