The Londonites from AngelBreaks.co.uk and a carefully selected co-conspirator are launching 1-Up! A brand spanking new night, in the most exciting music district in London, at the best new venue in town.
The Nest in Dalston is the brainchild of Fabric’s founder Steve Ball and Riz Shaikh of The Colombo Group (Old Queen’s Head, Paradise, The Westbury & The Blues Ki...tch...en.) It is a 350 capacity music lover’s wet dream of a venue – balanced, inclusive and with an amazing PA system.
And for our bow at this killer venue, it only felt right to have a line-up of befitting class. I present to you…
ADAM FREELAND (Marine Parade) – this guy needs no introduction but here goes…one of the pioneers of breaks, global superstar DJ, grammy nominated, festival headliner, world tours, fronts his own band ‘Freeland’, runs a label and he is bringing his trend-setting and ranging electronica to 1Up. This guy is humongous. We are psyched.
BLACK STROBE (SuperSoul Recordings) – founded by Ivan Smagghe and Arnaud Rebotini in Paris in 1997, they emerged as major players in the electro-clash revolution. Now with the experience from their later formed four-piece live band, these guys bring an incisive attitude to the turntables, provoking a dark and exciting electro style. We are ready.
FISTICUFFS & CURIOUS T (AngelBreaks.co.uk & 1Up) – fun before form is their motto (for this week anyway.) Imagine you are wearing bright dungarees, you fall down a pipe, bounce on a green mushroom, get another life, kill a dragon, hit the town with an Italian and take a Princess home. That’s what a set from these two is like. We are interested.
1Up is here to give us all some extra lives through good music, unembarrassed dancing and big hugs. Come and play, it’s gonna fun. Oh and make sure you are get down early to avoid the queues – everyone is talking up this club launch, it’s gonna be crazy.
