YOOF (SONZ OF MECHA) PRESENTS WELCOME TO BABYLONDONDON E.P. (OUT ON JULY 4TH 2009)

Worldclash pt.1

Whiteblanket

Skaface

Ratcatcher (Citizen K dubstep remix)

The Godfather of Tearout Breakbeat returns! DJ Yoof (Sunz of Mecha) is back again to smash up the scene!

So lock up yer daughters, open all the windows, pack away all delicate items and turn the bass to full because

he’s been holding back for too long!

For the first salvo DJ Yoof brings a 4 track digital EP released by Mechanoise (You didn’t really think you’d keep

the naughty kid quiet too long did ya?).

Showing the way forward, DJ Yoof has sparked up a big one and encourages you to join him on a breakbeat

oddyssey through funk, reggae, bashment, ska and dub…

“Worldclash /part1” kicks things off on a rolling reggae vibe and what can only be described as King Jammy’s

meets Dj Zinc in the 4th dimension. With an oldskool reggae bassline and horn section that skank’s along to a

serious drum workout, this tune would get any dancehall moving and chanting for more. The track pays homage

to DJ Yoof’s passion for the “soundclash” with vocal samples taken from all the great soundsystems from back

in the day.

“Whiteblanket” flips the script as it comes at you like cocaine funk fuelled monster with the fatness of Ray

Winstone after a full English. Hawaii 5-0 drums, sexy “wah-wah” guitars and keyboard lines that would even put

old Herbie Hancock to shame. This funk beast of a track been Yoof’s secret weapon over the last few months

leaving devastation across Spain. “This is the future of dirty hardcore drug fuelled porno music!”

“Skaface” takes us back to the good old days of Ska music (before the ghost town). With the stepping beats,

lo-fi yet up beat keyboard riffs, the tune eventually drops into the old prince buster bassline that The Specials

used in “Gangsters” with vocal duties from non other than Scarface’s Tony Montanna.

The original version of Ratcatcher gained a lot of support from the likes of Annie nightingale (Radio 1) who

licensed it for her Fabric compilation last year and so we thought we’d sort you all out a remix With Kilian on

remix duties in a dubstep style, this tune is for all the cool kids out there.
