Hi everyone!

We love Colombian collective Systema Solar’s new cumbia stylings, and here's a new EP featuring two remixes of the group’s politically charged track “Quien es el Patron?”, which is one of their main hits, first released as the soundtrack of a Colombian TV program.

The remixes are the work of Krak in Dub and Charles Tox, founders of Parisian electronic label Galletas Calientes. They take the blown-out, bugged-out intergalactic sound system feel of Systema Solar’s original mix and drive it to even more far-out heights.

Krak In Dub strips the sound down for a kind of spare space-dub. Charles Tox went for a big, thumping house track complete with sirens. Both remixes completely reimagine the “Quien es el Patron” while preserving its rich flavor.

The release is available on limited vinyl, or as a very reasonably priced download from ONErpm, Junodownload, eMusic, or iTunes.

Hopefully, this release will draw in some new listeners for Systema Solar — maybe even some who don’t immediately perk up when they hear the word cumbia
