About The Cunning One
"A DJ for the people, always aiming to please the crowd through an energetic and eclectic mix of no-nonsense music"

Jay Cunning's been in the mix since day one with various styles of Old Skool, House, DnB and dare we say it; Garage. In 1996 he started to consolidate this jockey sluttage and opted for a bit of monogamy and settled down with Breakbeat.
Nowadays his Weekly show on Kiss FM, international gigs and the running of Menu Music sees Jay as one of the hardest working DJs on the scene.
Since his early residency on Breaks FM back in 99 to his 5 year residency @ The End with Andy C's Ram Records Jay's versatility he's seen him putting about across the world from Russia to Canada, Spain to New Zealand and has acclaimed production collaborations with some of these scenes finest.
Jay joined forces with Atomic Hooligan in 2004 to form 'Menu Music', a concept that focus's on throwing up big party tunes on their now highly acclaimed record label.
2009 saw Jay pick up the mantle once more to start Sub Slayers, a brand new record label focusing on tur Breakbeat with a twist of Dubstep.

In addition to the amazing guest line up Jay's also introduced a section called the Unsigned Dubplate Drop where new Producers get their chance to have tracks heard on National radio within the UK.

And what show would be complete without a Top 5 Breakbeat sellers chart from Know How Records and of course a CLICHÉ CLASSIC track to finish off the show each week

The show is cutting edge without being out of reach, assessable without the cheese and more importantly broad without discrimination.

Introducing: SUB SLAYERS – A brand new label by Menu Music & Kiss FM’s Jay Cunning.
Sub Slayers comes out the starting blocks hard in 2009 with a mission statement that is clear and to the point. Breakbeat will be pushed forward and put back on the map with innovation and forward thinking. We will be at the forefront of this movement by cross pollinating our music with Dubstep, Electronica and anything else we find to be fresh and alluring.

After 5 years running Menu Music with Atomic Hooligan, Jay has broke out on the solo tip to bring new and exciting artists and music for your aural pleasure. From the glitchy Jungle influenced Gella to the raw and forward sounding I.D. to the bass tearing High Rankin, Sub Slayers looks set to deliver a storm of all storms amongst the masses.

Kicking of this unmissable project we have a Brighton based lad that’s set on slaying your sub’s with his thunderous productions: Sub Slayers is proud to present:

HIGH RANKIN
“Sitting In The Wet” & “Corner Of Ya Block”
Artist: HIGH RANKIN
Track A - “Sitting In The Wet” (Breakbeat)
Track AA - “Corner Of Ya Block” (Dubstep / Breakbeat)
Cat: SLAYER001
Release Date: 19th October 2009
Format: 12” Vinyl & Digital

High Rankin, What can we say? Well for starters his rip roaring EP’s on Cheaper Thrills have been picking up a lot of attention. Then there the remix's for the likes of Adam Freeland, Herve & Cyprus Hill. So it was a no brain-er for Sub Slayers to pick up this gem! Like the proverbial baseball player of destiny, we are going to throw High Rankin’s ball up in the air and bat it into the cheap seats. HOME RUN!!!

Already causing a storm in the disc jockey sets of Deekline, Hatcha, Stanton Warriors, King Cannibal, Rennie Pilgrem, Krafty Kuts, N-Type and of course head honcho Jay Cunning himself. We kick off with “Sitting In The Wet’ – a skippy Breakbeat/Garage/Dubstepy number that drops, no holds barred, into a twisted switch-up bassline set to devastate any sound system. Let it loose on the dance floor and watch them go!
On the flip we get down dirty with the upbeat Dubstepper that is “Corner Of Ya Block”, a feisty in your face affair which see’s Will Rankin get on the mic and represent for all the road man's dem! FIRE!!

The residents providing a glint of devilishness are the distorted, techy bleeps of MIKE CUBIST, the bootlicious bounce of IGNITION and the throbbing beats and feelgood tech-funk of LEE + MARK MARTIN alongside the always effervescent SIDEKICK MC.
